10 COMMANDMENTS KEY TO ECOLOGICAL SUSTAINABILITY.
1. SAVE WATER: A five-minute shower consumes approximately 40 liters of water and washing dishes with running water consumes approximately 10 liters.
2. SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL PRODUCE: Buying products from long distances raises the level of CO2. Opt instead for local products.
3. IT´S NOT ALL TRASH: Toxic products should be treated separately. A battery, for example, can contaminate 590,000 liters of water.
4. FORGET PLASTIC: try reusable cloth bags instead for shopping and help save sea turtles. Plastic bags kill more than 1000 turtles each year.
5.TURN OFF THE LIGHTS: two hours of unused light, emits 100 grams of CO2.
6. PLANT A TREE: By planting a tree you can help clean the air.
7. PEDAL: Use the bicycle. Transport is responsible for 31 % CO2, 45 % oil and 50% of nitrogen oxide emissions.
8. USE LESS DISPOSABLE: A can or a disposable cup takes at least 10 years to decompose.
9. USE LESS PAPER: 40% of the worlds trees are felled to make paper.
