The Lions Club of Las Tablas have been responsible for several years organising and honoring this national traditional folk event.

The event is held every year on the 22nd of July, the feast day of our patron Saint Santa Librada. In the past the local women wore their fancy calico skirts following in a group with drums going to watch the bullfights in the Prague plaza.

This famous festival started on July the 22nd, in 1957 with the coronation of Margarita Lozano, which was held in the atrium of the church of Santa Librada. She became the first Queen of the event that has since been passed down through the following years. For this reason and many others, the highest award offered in the contest is named after “MARGARITA LOZANO MEDAL ”.
